Deepika Padukone donates a generous amount to her ‘Chhapaak’ costar, acid attack survivor Bala
Deepika Padukone recently came from “Chhapak” to help her co-star who is suffering from kidney disease. The actress has donated Rs 15 lakh to Bala Prajapati, who survived an acid attack, to help with a kidney transplant. According to an ETimes report, Bala, a resident of Bijnor in western UP, was attacked with acid by his landlord. Her grandfather, who was with her during the attack, died of his wounds. The attack left scars on Bala’s head, face and neck.
The Chhanv Foundation launched a crowdfunding scheme for Bala three years ago. Hearing about it, Deepika cooperated in this endeavor. “We appreciate Deepika’s gesture,” said Alok Dixit, director of the foundation. Her assistance has undoubtedly helped us in our efforts to raise funds for the cause.
However, there is still work to be done. Bala is a dialysis patient who takes dialysis twice a week. To expedite this process, we are consulting with doctors from leading hospitals. We need to find a kidney donor because her mother and brother were unable to donate a kidney and she cannot stay on dialysis for long, ”he said.
Deepika Padukone’s film “Chhapak” was released in January 2020. The film was directed by Meghna Gulzar and was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Deepika has now completed the shooting of a film directed by Shakun Batra, which stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey. Deepika will reunite with Shah Rukh Khan in the unexpected and yet unannounced ‘Pathan’ directed by Siddharth Anand.
